Booting from OpenVMS from CD-ROM?

» close window

The Question is:

Can I boot openvms alpha 7.1-2 from cd on a Alpha 433au using a scsi cd-rom
attached to the 50-pin port of my Qlogic KZPBA-CX scsi controller card? I have
the Intel SIO controller onboard, not the crpress pci peripherial controller,
 so I can't boot from m
y IDE cd-rom.

The Answer is :

Yes. No. Maybe. Please see the OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ) for discussions of working with third-party SCSI hardware -- the
OpenVMS Wizard here assumes you would not be asking this question in
this way if you were not attempting to use third-party (unsupported)
SCSI hardware. As such, please see the information in the OpenVMS FAQ.
