TCP/IP `stops working'?

» close window

The Question is:

On a certain node in our cluster TCP/IP services occasionally stops, thus
precluding TELNET connection to that node. Where can I find a list of know
bugs for TCP/IP 5.0A, and is this one of them?

The Answer is :

Open-ended questions -- such as "any known bugs?" -- are exceedingly
difficult questions for the OpenVMS Wizard to answer. (Yes, bugs have
been identified in various TCP/IP Services releases, in various OpenVMS
releases, and in layered and third-party products. The OpenVMS Wizard
is not in a position to provide a "complete list" of bugs, if the Wizard
  even had such a list.)

Please apply the current ECO kit for TCP/IP Services V5.0A or move
to V5.1 (with ECO, as applicable) or later -- V5.3 is approaching
release. Please also apply the mandatory ECO kits for OpenVMS.
If the problem persists, please contact the support center.

If you wish to pursue this on older releases, you will need to look
for and review the various log files, and you will need to determine
the general TCP/IP Services system status.
